More specifically, behind the red house at 124 Christian Street, Washington, just off of Route 202, north of the intersection with Route 47. Please see the map and site info at:
This preserve is a part of the Steep Rock Association.
Shelagh will be our leader on this expedition, having had past experience on this trail. This will be a leisurely hike of exploration, although there is a steep climb up to the ridge. Our aim is not to race through the woods, but to see and experience the wilderness provided. There will be a loop at the top to traverse. You should be rewarded with scenic views of Lake Waramaug.
Wear proper footwear, bring water, and layer your clothing appropriately. Cameras should not be overlooked. Also -- for most hikes I've heard about, leaders wait about 15 minutes for late arrivals, so please be prompt.
Optional: At the end of the hike, those of us who wish will share a small brunch potluck of edibles among each other. We'll find a good, preferably aesthetic, spot near to parking to sit (bring a folding chair or blanket, just in case a good rock isn't available), and socialize a while longer. No fires are permitted, so consider your potluck item accordingly. Also, as some people may have allergies or food restrictions, while you may bring what you like, be prepared to let others know what's in your share.
