We're a group of dog lovers who are ready to go "BEYOND THE SIDEWALK" with our best friends. Our main goal is to actually spend quality time with our pups doing fun things, instead of just hurrying through the daily grind of walking around the neighborhood.
You do NOT have to live in West County to join, we have members from all over 3 counties. We welcome new Event Hosts, if you want to plan an outing in your own area.
Hikes are free of charge. We just ask that you respect the rules and keep your RSVP's current. If your dog is aggressive or mean, you will be sent home.
The pace of our hikes is more relaxed, our groups are smaller, and trails are reasonably easy. We take our "goof off" time seriously, especially if there's a puddle, creek, lake or river around. Our hikers and their dogs sometimes get dirty and wet, but the dogs always have a good time. We're just trying to have fun, so come prepared to just relax and enjoy the day and the company.
We walk at a moderately brisk pace & cover about 2.5 MPH, unless otherwise specified. That's not slow/not fast, hopefully good for all abilities. Hikes are generally 3-6 miles long, about 2-3 hours of actual walking, plus play time. If a hike is "slow paced" or "fast paced", we will tell you in the writeup.
If you're looking for a power-hiking group, this isn't it! There are lots of other great meetup groups out there for that. However, we ARE a hiking group, and a most of our hikes require you to be reasonably fit.
WE REQUIRE A PICTURE THAT SHOWS YOU OR YOUR DOG FOR MEMBERSHIP, PREFER ONE OF YOUR PUP. Be sure to include his/her breed, age and name in your profile.
Please don't apply with a picture of your car, a book, a flower or a cupcake. We ask for a picture so we can IDENTIFY you at meetup time. Your membership won't be approved if you're afraid to show your face, or at least your dog's face.
We expect our Dog Pack members to adhere to these, or be told to leave and hike alone. You might have to "adjust" some of your habits when you walk with a large group of dogs who don't know each other.
