Photo walks are great for everyone because there's always a little bit of everything. This one will be a good mix of urban and street photography, with macro and nature opportunities.
This is kinda long haul for some people, my guess is about 2 1/2+ miles, but it is all flat, on paved ground. The area is wheel chair accessible, but it could be a long walk.
To start the walk, park near the Roxy Theater. We won't be back for a meter in time, so I suggest parking in the lot. We will meet at the corner of 1st and Santa Rosa Ave in front of the movie theater. From there, we will walk the Santa Rosa Creek Trail to A street. We will then go in to back of Juliard Park and work our way to Luther Burbank Homes and Gardens. The follow Sonoma Ave to D street and make a left. Take a right on 3rd street, and a left of E street. Take a left at 4th street, and stop at Russian River Brewing Co for a pint (seating is rare, and food takes a long time so don't plan on this being your lunch time). Continue down 4th street to Mendocino and explore Court House Square. From here, continue on back towards the car. I assume we should be done by about 2ish
Gear- layered clothes, a sac lunch or some pocket change, water, a backpack (pack light), a tripod and release, extra batteries and a memory card, a walk around lens and maybe a telephoto lens and a flash unit. You might also want a hat and some sunscreen, knee pads and a SMALL defuser. Trust me when I say pack light. A heavy bag will be a burden. Lunch will be as you get hungry, there is no pre-determined time to eat as a group.
I assume there will be some splitting off into smaller groups, but I will do my best to keep everyone together. Also when we first meet up, take note of who shoots on what kind of camera. If someone shoots something similar, it's a good idea to buddy up with like gear for questions.
