The weather is still nice enough to go out and practice night photography. The old time buildings really lend themselves to photography. The bridge, river and large cathedral are also really cool to photograph. This is a great time to practice some HDR, some golden and blue hour light, as well experiment with motion blur on cars, stop lights or even battery powered light painting toys.
This will be a group event, but it will be mostly free form. My experience is that people spread to the wind and focus on different areas. I certainly encourage community, so if anyone has questions, just ask. Meet at the parking lot for Dempsey's and Taps. Gear list- you will want a tripod and a shutter release once it gets dark. Extra batteries, and memory cards are a given.
A walk around lens
Maybe a wide angle lens
maybe a telephoto lens.
a snack and some water
a graduated neutral density filter or a regular ND filter can be cool for special effects.
a small flashlight or head lamp to see what's in your bag
A jacket and walking shoes will make you more comfortable.
For anyone that wants to play around with light painting, battery operated light toys (flashlights, flash units, Christmas lights, glow sticks, kids toys, LEDs, etc) are welcome. This is a NO FIRE event. Absolutely no steel wool, poi, candles, fireworks, sparklers.
Pack light as you will be carrying all this gear.
