Discuss "In the Garden of Beasts"

This is the first month of the new non-fiction book club at West End. For our first meeting, we will be reading "In the Garden of Beasts" by Erik Larson, who is also the author of the acclaimed book "The Devil in the White City." "In the Garden of Beasts" tells the story of William E. Dodd, who served as the U.S. ambassador to Hitler’s Germany in 1933. His daughter, Martha, is entranced by the handsome young men of the Third Reich. But as evidence of Jewish persecution mounts, Dodd telegraphs his concerns to a largely indifferent State Department back home. "In the Garden of Beasts" lends a stunning eyewitness perspective on the tumultuous events leading up to the Second World War.

Just to let everyone know, there are several copies of the book available at the branch, so you can stop by and grab one.
