This group is an entry point for the West End Photographic Society (WEPS) in association with the West End Community Centre (WECC). We are a club for photographer with all levels of experience with film and darkroom who would like to be part of community of photographers interested in darkroom and would like access to a community based darkroom.
A fully paid membership with the WEPS ($25) and a current room usage card from the WECC ($12) is required. Members supply their own chemicals and rags. $5 for three hours.
We meet once a month to September to June. The structure of these meetings is in flux at the moment, but have in the past been an opportunity for members to share print, transparency or digital photographs. However, the focus is evolving towards a more specific focus on darkroom.
October 20 - Members are invited to bring black & white prints to share. We will likely focus some attention on contrast as that is the theme of the workshop preceding the meeting.
Meetings in 2014 TBA - will be scheduled for Saturdays
Please see our website for more information - please note we have just recently changed the meeting dates for October and November and this has not yet been updated on the site. IN addition, the meeting day will be changed to Saturdays in the new year.
We are developing workshops on a number of topics related to the darkroom. So far we have had sessions for basic darkroom procedures and painting on developer. More are in the works. Members are welcome to request particular sessions or suggest new ones. They are also welcome, actually encouraged, to share an interest or particular skill with other members. Darkroom sessions are scheduled prior to each monthly meeting, but additional sessions can be scheduled throughout the month.
