Atheneum Tour with Director

Many of us were enchanted and exhilarated by our meeting in February with Susan Talbott, the director of the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art.  Here is a chance to hear her "in her element" and visit the museum at no cost.  This is part of a city-wide Arts week.  For those interested, we can enjoy lunch afterward in the museum cafe.  This is a great opportunity to experience something new!

From the museum's website:

Many artists create as a way of exploring the mystical realm, inviting the viewer to contemplate or linger on the image. Susan L. Talbott, Director and CEO, investigates art with spiritual associations ranging from Caravaggio to Bill Viola’s Ascension (2000) that search for meaning through visual form.

As part of Aetna Arts Week, this gallery talk is free.

The Greater Hartford Arts Council invites you to “Feel Your ART Beat” during Aetna Arts Week, a week-long celebration of the arts in and around Hartford, from May 19 to 24

So glad I finally had the opportunity to visit the Wadsworth! Even though it is right in my backyard, I had never been there. Great Tour.
Interesting and I now appreciate Caravaggio! Thanks Dianne

I'm really bummed but I can't seem to shake this cold/cough and I really don't want anyone else to get sick at my expense. :(! Please let me know how it is, Dianne. I would love to attend the next one you do!

One of the first reasons I just signed up for the group was to attend this. I'm sure I will quickly find many more reasons to belong in this group - I've heard nothing but good things! Can't wait to meet you all on Friday!
