"Accounting Basics" - Peter Goldman has been my personal and business accountant for several years. He also has been helping to take care of the books for several other members of WICHA including year end taxes.
As entrepreneurs, Accounting is one area of running your business that can be the cause of so much stress but proper bookkeeping can help you to keep more of your own money in your pocket. Poor accounting practices can be responsible for your forfeiting your hard earned money to the government if you don't know what business deductions you can claim your you don't track your expenses well enough.
This is the fourth of four presentations in our Business Basics series this year, and the timing is perfect. At the end of a calendar year is a great time to start (if you haven't already) organizing your papers for tax time, AND if you happen to have poor record keeping habits, DECEMBER is the best time to put your system in place for the following year so you don't have the same stress in 2010. We are all business owners and entrepreneurs and as such we need to be sure that our basic business skills are on the mark and that we continue improving our business presence and overall performance to no only stay on top of our competition but the stay in touch with what the latest trends are. Because the majority of us don't have a hardcore "business"
background this is a great opportunity to learn about some essential tools, network and have a great breakfast all at the same time. The first three presentations in this series have been greatly informative, there is not doubt in my mind that this morning will also be great. Be sure to RSVP, looking forward to seeing you there!
7:30 Meeting Greet & Eat - ie: Grab a coffee, get acquainted with other guests, and breakfast is served, buffet style. We have now moved to a breakfast restaurant, as meeting space in the mornings is hard to come by. We'll make some announcements for upcoming workshops, events, and objectives once we are all settled down.
7:50 30 second infomercials - All members and guests, will have the opportunity to introduce their business or modality, please keep your intro to 30 seconds only. There will be time following the meeting for some one on one networking.
8:15 Topic of the Month "More For You Less for the Tax Man" In this presentation Peter Goldman, CGA will discuss practical and essential accounting strategies that will help you to track your expenses and prepare for tax filing every year. Good bookkeeping habits can help you to keep more of your money in your pocket rather than having to turn it over to the Government for tax season.
8:50 Open networking
Cost for the meeting NOW including breakfast is $ 20 for visiting businesses and practitioners, and entrepreneurs or $ 15 for paid annual members.
We can't wait to see you bright and early on Tuesday December 8th!
Wishing you good health and happiness and the time to enjoy them. Namaste
