This is a meetup for country musicians to get together and jam some classic and retro country tunes.

We're talking, Hank, Buck, Cash, Merle, Lefty, Loretta, Patsy, Ray Price, Willie, Waylon, George Jones, Johnny Horton, Bob Wills, Graham Parsons, Kristofferson, Webb Pierce along with current retro-country bands like BR-549, Mike Stinson, Wayne Hancock, The Derailers, Hank III, Paul Burch, Two Dollar Pistols, Robbie Fulks, Asleep at the Wheel and so on.

Any styles we can pull off we'll do. Shuffles, western swing, 2-step, r ockabilly, bluegrass, folk, back-beat rock seem to be the go-to's. As long as it's a classic country tune, it's good. No blues jams! Some current pop-country radio stuff can be snuck in from time to time.  But no Toby Keith, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood or Keith Urban at any time.

Great place to meet other country-lovin' musicians in a cool, easy-going jam, with plenty of time fire off the chops, sing the great songs of Country.

Guitarists, bassists, steel, lap, mando, fiddle, harmonica, vocalists, drummers, all welcome. All talent levels welcome, but most players have been around the block a bit.  A Songbook is provided for the jams with lyrics and chords (some in Nashville notation) of our standard list of tunes - see below!

Generally, we'll meet in a rehearsal room somewhere on the West Side, though we'll plan on a couple out in the Valley, South Bay and Long Beach if enough pickers join from that part of town. Please check the details of the meetups when scheduled.

It's Pickin' Time, y'all.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
