My current projects investigate technology-enabled energy feedback, audience engagement in documentary film, and transmedia social action campaigns. All of these involve a focus on storytelling and visualization in some way. In one project, called Affect to Action, we have created a framework drawn from psychological theory for how film can maximize participation through narrative, framing, and editing strategies. In another, called Feed4, we are analyzing visualization of energy use data and exploring specific variables that impact interpretation, perception, and behavioral intention. This group sounds like a great opportunity to meet people who are exploring similar issues from different approaches and industries.
I'm a Ph.D. student at UCI (but live in Venice) and I run a research group called the Transformational Media Lab that studies the potential and application of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for social change.
