I called Culver City Parks Dept to find out how much their rentals. The only two that have lights are Syd Kronenthal Park and Veterans Park.

They are being rented out every weeknight by softball/baseball and soccer leagues - which means lights are on - until 10:30 pm.

I live close to both and the nights I've driven by, the lights are on and there isn't a fight for fieldspace like there is at Cloverfield.

We used to play at Syd K - we had a permit there. There is staff on site. Might get kicked off w/o a permit. Same with Vet's - staff will give you the heave go if it looks organized and no permit. Did you guys get closed out at Clover last night?

Are you guys looking to play primarily in the SM/Culver City area? If you're willing to branch out farther, I could check into some places more North (Studio City, NoHo, etc.). I just have a feeling most of you guys are all in the SM area, so that would be a long drive. Thoughts?

    Ran out of space below...
If someone can find a great space where we will not get kicked off by people with a permit that would be great. i hate to charge for our games and if we got a permit that would mean people would have to commit to paying a combined $60-80 per week for each night. Right now I am just breaking even at $10 per 6 mos! In addition we would be required to have group insurance which is also expensive. Lots of us would choose not to play at those rates and I would hate to loose all you great people.
It would mean changing from a drop in when you can easy game to a commitment of $$ even when you do not come.
    All wonderful ideas are welcome.

Here's some history...Culver City...like Jane said, we had a long and hard fight in Culver City for a field and without a permit they are there to kick you off. With a permit they do nothing to help. Baseball wins over soccer every time and kids definitely win over adults. Whenever there is baseball they have most of the field so no one gets hurt when a ball hurtles your way so they usually do not allow anyone else. The field charge when we were paying was $40 per hour.
Santa Monica, yes the field is dark once in a while and right now we need to squeeze in but we can play 90% of the time. The field has lights now because of the rugby permit on Tues and Thurs. A permit for the SM field is $$$$ too...over $40 per hour. Baseball will be starting in Feb and they will put up a fence. For this reason I had the games starting at 6:45 so we can get there earlier than the others looking for space.
Our main problem is finding a field with lights. Basically we are playing illegally so shhh.

Also Sandy, if we're working with real small space. I'd suggest closing the list for our safety. We're at 14 already?!! (Food for thought) : )

Here's the deal you need a permit to play* and they don't allow adult soccer *futbol or rugbee on this field. (ONLY ALLOWED AT SAMOHI & AIRPORT) They also don't have anyone with a permit on the field tonight (inquired about their schedule), so hence no lights*

Their soccer field (which is down below) is projected to open in February for Youth only.

    M- 6-9 youth rugbee (permit)
T- 6-9 youth rugbee (permit) 9-10 adult frizbee (permit)
    W-nothing
    Th-6-930 youth rugbee

    Permit is for entire field*
