Paddlers should know how to eddy out (pull over on the river). Great places practice those maneuvers en route.

This 14.8 mile paddle and takes about 5 1/2 FUN hours. (includes lunch stop and a stop at the dune to climb after lunch).

Lunch stop at Peterson’s Bridge: (also a possible take out or put in)
which is about 2 hours into the paddle.

Suggest you dress for the water and bring spare clothing

No River permit required before Memorial Day. A $5.00 fee or National Park Pass for parking is required.

3. Please be aware that we enjoy our alcoholic beverages off-river only due to safety and other concerns. Please respect the event host (It's awkward approaching someone mid-trip) and the clubs position on this matter. We’ll enjoy one with you after the trip.
4. We leave on time to make sure that those who have to drop out with out contacting us can do so. We also can't wait for those who will be running late to keep the paddle in order. Please be on time or early.
5. We leave together after the safety talk and picture. Please remain on land until the host has completed their duties in this regard.
6. Our sport is inherently dangerous. By signing up for this event you assume full responsibility for your and your quests safety, equipment and well being. The event includes but is not limited to loading, unloading, transport of equipment and shuttle participation. Failure to sign up for this event precludes participation in this group's events.

Meet at M-37 Put-in 10am. Entrance is a road on the right when heading north on 37. road goes along side the back of a hotel. Vault toilets.
11 miles, about 4 hours. We will make a break/lunch stop along the way.

This posting is for the camping portion. Join us for any or all of the days and nights that you can. All rivers will be listed separately. .

Saturday evening at 6:29 pm is our Club Potluck and bonfire. This will take place at the main campsite. Be sure to bring your tableware, a dish to pass and your own meat to cook. If you bring meat it would be helpful to have it cooked.

Please Post your site number. If you have room for another party to share expenses let us know. We can double up - cuts costs.

(Across the street from the Crystal River Corp 5664 S Dunns Farm Rd, Glen Arbor, MI 49636) The other side is the Crystal River Trailhead.

(it is a few miles from Cherry Republic in Glen Arbor) . spot our vehicles.

Take-out: Crystal River outfitters M-22) where there is a good parking lot to spot our vehicles.
Take out... On the river you will pass 2 roads. The first road you will see two options, stay to the left (the big part of the river). The 2nd road is where the Outfitter station is. (Outfitters did give me permission to use their take out.) This is about 1.5-2.0 hours depending on how fast you paddle and how much you play.

There are two areas that need to portage across the road. We can work together and help each other.

SPOTTING VEHICLES from the Put-In to the Take-Out. Left on 675 (W Crystal View RD 1 mile) Left on W Harbor Hwy (M22) to Crystal River Outfitters (you can park on the side street).

After the paddle you can check out the Outfitters store where there is a lot to learn about the area and they have beverages, stuff for sale and you can rent paddle boards.

After the paddle, change your clothes if you want, Have lunch and If you would like, join us in cycling Trail. From there, my guess is about 1:00 but there is not an exact time... We will drive (or some of you might want to cycle over to Glen Arbor and park at the trailhead by the church on South Forest Haven Drive. 44.897088, -85.993863 (there is a First Church of Christ, scientist. If you follow the directions to it, the map will take you past it into the weeds, be sure to turn on the South Forest Haven Drive) Cycle over to the Sleeping Bear Dune Climb, climb the dune or sit and enjoy the views. Ride back to Glen Arbor (total of about 12 miles). It is mostly a paved trail. Then shop or hang out in Glen Arbor before heading back to the park.
Some will paddle the Platte later. Some plan to be back to camp.
