Pool practice opportunities

For those interested in participating in whitewater trips that are in the planning stage for next year, or if you just want to get wet in the winter, the West Michigan Coastal Kayak Assn will be providing 6 pool dates throughout this winter at the Grandville Middle School.  You can learn to roll and brace, or practice your existing skills.  The first date is Dec 14 at 3:00.  The others will be Jan 18 & 25, Feb 8 & 15, and March 8. These are all Saturday afternoons.  You can read more about these on the WMCKA website:     http://www.wmcka.org/events.php.

THIS IS NOT A WEST MICHIGAN KAYAKING CLUB MEET-UP EVENT.  THIS IS ALSO NOT A CLASS.

The first pool session you attend will be $15, and includes annual membership in WMCKA. All following pool sessions are $10 each.  Cash ONLY.

I will be overseeing these pool sessions and can provide some instruction (free) to a few people.  If you contact me in advance I can plan on spending time with you, and likely bring whatever equipment you might need (free) to learn rolling and bracing. PH: (two three one) 8 nine 3 - six nine 05 (voice or text) or rlstarr at charter dot net.

IF YOU BRING YOUR OWN BOAT IF MUST BE CLEAN - INSIDE AND OUT!!! THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.

For those close to Kalamazoo, Keith Wikle provides instruction at WMU (sponsored by Lee's Outdoors). These dates include structured classes, but you can just use the pool for practice if that's your preference. Read the details here:   http://gokayaknow.com/index.php/kayak-lessons/kayak-pool-sessions/

DO NOT SIGN-UP HERE.  This posting is intended to simply communicate these opportunities.  If you want to come to the Grandville Pool, there is no advance reservation needed - just come.  If you want instruction there, contact me in advance.  If you're interested in the sessions in Kalamazoo, go to that website and read about the costs, and how to sign-up for whatever you wish to do there.
