FRIDAY NIGHT CAMPFIRE - Meet me at my site 120. Bring your chair. We'll be figuring out where the potluck is going to be based on who has the giant site and is willing. Not sure how big 120 is. Big enough for the Friday night fire for sure. :)
We will be camping at Interlochen State Campground
Saturday we will do the Betsie and Manistee - YOU MUST PICK ONE.
Please RSVP here AND the SATURDAY RIVER OF YOUR CHOICE.
We cannot have 80+ people on one river for safety, parking and organizer sanity concerns. There is a limit of 45 on each trip. Please pick a trip that's not maxed out. Both rivers are spectacular.
We'll do the Boardman on Sunday.
Camping Reservations can be made by going to this site: http://www.midnrreservations.com/SearchPark.aspx?ParkID=38

The river is slow to moderate in this section and is 35 to 50 feet wide, passing through lowland forests. This is approximately a 10 mile paddle and should be about a 4 hour float.

Manistee River Paddle on Saturday
This stretch of the Manistee follows along the north country trail, primarily through wild areas, with a peppy current, and a few Class I ripples. It's a favorite with many paddlers because the the beautiful forest with steep cliffs. The river is wide, and can easily accommodate large groups. The Manistee is a very easy river to paddle but it does have several tricky eddy currents around the tight turns. This is easily overcome by properly attacking the turn and paddling a bit harder to overcome the current. Easily done by even the most inexperienced paddler.

The Boardman River is one of Michigan's most scenic and beautiful rivers. The water is crystal clear. We'll put in at Schumsky's Landing at 11:00 am after spotting some vehicles on our way to the put in. This is an approximately 7 mile paddle. Time: 3 or so hours. You don't want to miss this paddle!! Skill Level: - Beginner/Intermediate. Beitner Rapids below Beitner bridge is class II. Whoever wants to do that section can. Fast but not overwhelming. Anyone can do the Boardman with no problems but if you don't like about 15 minutes of fast and challenging water then Beitner bridge access is where you'll get out. See the pictures from earlier trips!
