Blues Concert Paddles #5

Big Boss Blues

We will Meetup at the Summit Rd put-in at 5:45, start spotting cars at 6:00, with paddles in at 6:30. The bands will be taking the stage from 7:00 to 9:00 so we should be able to hear them as we paddle into the backwater of the dam and have plenty of entertainment as we float around.

This is a very easy paddle, about 1-1.5 hours (or more), and a perfect time for "Newbies" to join in and see why we love to do what we do.  If you know someone that has wanted to get out and go, bring them with you for the best seat in town.  We will have a safety briefing prior to the launch and answer any questions.  …no, you can’t go over the dam, unless you REALLY try to.

Vitale’s will be delivering pizza to the canoe launch (next to the dam) for cash sales and big tips.  Order your pizza once you are near the dam and be sure to watch for it (please don’t make them wait for you).  When you order be sure to let them know that you are with West Michigan Kayaking Club and that you are in your boat waiting at the dam boat launch.  (616)[masked]

Remember, EVERY paddle is a Ranger Paddle.  Help keep our rivers beautiful by picking up after those that don’t.  Let me know what you picked up and you could get a ‘Ranger’ tag on your profile.  Photos of the bazar items are encouraged.  Last year I found a yellow school bus.

Hope to see you there.

BTW!  If the concert is canceled, we are canceled, unless you really want to paddle it anyway.  Watch the radar.  Last year two of us paddled alone for what I think was the best concert of the summer.

I'm watching the radar! It looks like we will have some rain move through between 4 and 6, then mostly cloudy. Chance for rain during the concert is 30-50% depending on who you listen to. If the concert is cancelled or moved to Rockford Brewing, we will not be paddling. As of now the concert is on in the park and we will be paddling.

We can't get to the put-in in time but we will paddle upstream from the take out and meet you half way

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
