A. We will view many online videos to learn about the paleo/primal diet and lifestyle while we enjoy with frequent breaks as we eat paleo pizzas and snacks.
Purpose will be to learn:
- what are the kinds of foods to eat and not to eat
- the science of this "superior" diet for our health
- weight loss (why it works and recommendations for greatest success)
- paleo/primal lifestyle (i.e., physical activities/exercises, and importance of outdoor exposure)
B. We will watch and learn from national paleo experts, see some food prep demos from national best selling cookbook authors, and hear from a representative in attendance from one of our local "Crossfit" Gym on the kinds of primal strength training and exercises they recommend.
NEED COOKS: I'm seeking from anyone who wants to help in preparing/cooking the paleo pizzas/snacks. I will soon put out on our website the foods and recipes we will need to prepare and to ask for some people (who have signed up via RSVP for the meeting) who will commit to making these pizzas. There are a few variations of making these pizza crusts such as from cauliflower/cheese or from almond and/or coconut flour. Strict paleo is no diary, but there are some variations of the diet (such as a lacto-paleo) that allows organic/grass fed diary. Therefore, we will have some pizzas with and without cheeses. So getting a variety of eating different pizzas will be fun for our experimentation. Believe me, these pizzas are delicious with the various kinds of veggies and meat toppings. So please come and enjoy. The pre-made pizzas will be brought in from those who sign up to make them. Their costs will be reimbursed. We will ask those who come to the meeting to give a recommended amount so we can reimburse our "cooks", and also to help defray our Meetup Administrative cost that the Organizer pays annually to post the Meetup webpages.
I'm hoping this meeting cost will run somewhere between $5 - $10 (actual costs TBD). Also, feel free to bring/share any paleo snacks you wish to make at your own expense. So if one is not "into pizzas" there will still be lots of food to snack on. I will later send out a message for some suggestions for the kinds of paleo snacks to bring.
If I can get additional help in running the meetings, I hope we can have these meeting run regularly, say at least one a month. Positions available are: a "Co-Organizer" and some "Assistants." If interested, please come to this meeting and we can discuss in more detail.
