Exploring the differences between color and black&white photography

this could be a shoot in several locations or instructional meeting. I would not want to do the instructing being a beginner. Any volunteers?

Anybody have notes they could share, send me? We were out of town, in Vienna actually, for an art, music, Christmas tour. It was exhausting but very interesting and it didn't snow or rain for the whole trip!

I just realized that your meet up is about 2 1/2 hours away!! I'll miss it, but I can't do that. I have to quit if this is the only place that the meet ups happen. Sorry!

Sorry. The meet ups happen in GR because that's where the people running them are. You could schedule and run something yourself, or find someone else to teach. There also may be a camera club near you.

I just looked at your profile. Kazoo is not 2.5 hours from Schulers on 28th St. A little bit over an hour maybe.

Eric, you may want to consider m43 by Olympus or Panasonic unless you are printing over 30x40 or shooting in the dark. There is a wide selection of lenses at half the weight with superb IQ.

I had to set my love for photography to the side a few years back. I was a semi-professional for a while too. Things have changed in my life recently and I'm looking at getting back into it. My equipment is currently fairly extensive 35MM but I am looking into expanding into a digital SLR also.

This is the kickoff of the the Second Tuesday Photo Huddle (STPH). I had been Exploring Minimalism in various photographic expressions but have decided to morph it into a more eclectic and random format. As Steve said the plan is for the second Tuesday monthly unless we get bumped - I'll post monthly of topic, etc. as we move along. I participate in the Grand Rapids Camera Club meeting the 3rd Wed monthly - check out the website (www.GRCameraClub.ORG).

There is no cost for this meetup. Unless specifically stated in the meetup, all meetups for this group are free. This group is sponsored by the Southwest Michigan Council of Camera Clubs, so if you want to pay it back, join and get involved in one of your local camera clubs.

Of course, I am not above accepting a cup of coffee from someone one of these days....

I will plan on being there, in florida now. There was a comment at the bottom of the page. Is there a cost involved? If so how much and where do you pay? Are all meetups for this group charged or just depend on what is covered? Looking forward to tweaking my basic skills. Thanks. Mike

Cant make it but would want somebody's notes or power point presentation if one is used. I am very interested in the subject. Make it a week earlier and i would be there.

We will meet at Schuler's on the second Tuesday, thanks to Mike Koole who has the room scheduled. I'll give my Intro to B&W talk I gave at the Southwest Michigan Council of Camera Clubs Summer Weekend of Photography.

It's basically how to see in B&W and some examples. Basically, I'm showing of my work... :)

I would propose that it be an informal discussion format, if you're looking to explore the differences. Perhaps, if you photograph using digital, there could be an assessment of the same, say, 4-6 photographs printed in black and white and color. That way, you can be given a comparative critique. Another possible sort of assignment would be to, prior to the meeting, photograph in exclusively black and white for a week or two to explore your own experiences with it and then bring those experiences with you to the open discussion. I certainly don't claim to be the master of all things photographic, but if a scheduled date works for me, I would be OK with helping to lead or guide the discussion.

I would be interested depending on the date/time/location and costs.
