Saturday Ramble Arley and Wyre Forest 10-15 for 10-30am

Title: Arley and Wyre Forest
Date: 21st June 10.30 am start

Grade: Leisurely to moderate in parts, approx 11 miles

Meeting Point: Meet at Arley, Worcestershire, DY12 3NF (closest postcode)

Directions:
We will meet at the car park which is on the West side of the River right next to West side of the footbridge in Arley and at the end of the lane past Arley station. This car park is now £2 /day. If your sat nav takes you to the East side of the river which is Upper Arley, please note that there is no road bridge. In this case you can use the large pay and display car park on East side of the river (also £2 per day) and then walk over the footbridge to meet us. (otherwise it can take an hour to drive round!)

As this is a Saturday and the Steam trains are running, please arrive in good time at the car park to ensure a space.

Description:
A walk with several themes, steam railways, water, mills, forest and finally common.

Starting at Arley we walk south along the River Severn then head west through the Wyre Forest on footpaths mostly before finishing through a common and farmland back at Arley.

Some sections can be very muddy, even when it hasn't rained, other sections are surfaced.

There are no pub stops mid way so please bring a packed lunch and plenty of water, especially if its hot.

At the end of the walk, the Harbour inn pub is next to the car park and Arley station, part of Severn Valley Railways steam line, is only 100m away for a look and potential tea and cakes if the cafe is still open. Also across the footbridge at Upper Arley, the post office sells good ice cream.

As with all Ramblers walks, please ensure you have suitable walking boots and bring enough water.

Note: A shorter version of this walk focusing on the forest may be scheduled for the Autumn as a fungal foray.

Hi Mark, That's fine: Note we will meet at the car park at bottom of hill outside of Arley station and will depart at 10.30 sharp. See you there.

    Hi Dee, just joined meetup.
As Dan has said, it should be okay but as long as you understand its a long walk and so if you have a dog who is always wanting to run off the lead, it could be tiring. Look forward to seeing you on the walk.
