<p>The leaves are starting to change. The air is getting crisp and cool outside. We're getting the jeans and sweatshirts out again...its the perfect time for an early autumn picnic lunch and hike through one of Northeastern Ohio's most beautiful areas, the Cuyahoga Valley National Park! True, its a little out of the way, but if you've ever been (or never been!) down to the CVNP in the fall, you know its something to soak up and behold! A true treasure that some have never had the opportunity to check out (you could easily spend days and days exploring the area and never see the same thing twice!) The Ledges Trail is detailed here. I've been there many a time and can say that its worth the drive...lots of rocks for the kids to climb on, there's Ice Box Cave to walk into, carvings people have done in the side of the canyons... When done, we could always go down to Virgina Kendall Lake (not more than a half mile down the road) and have a late lunch lakeside (optional! Bring food if you want to!), then go hiking around that area as well. Virgina Kendall Lake and Lakehouse! A neat overhead look at the Ledges area! So, we'll meet in the parking lot of the Ledges at 11:00 AM. I'll be standing right by the trail head (you can't miss it, its to the very back of the lot, right over by the large pavilions. Once we're all there, we'll head out to the Ledges for an afternoon hike! As always, if you can't find us, are going to be late or just can't make it, drop me a call or text at [masked]. The rain may have scared some people away, but those of us who made it had fun! Just more proof that there is no bad weather, only bad clothing.

Greetings, Single Parents!!!

Are you a single divorced, widowed or adoptee parent? Having a hard time finding that balance between parenting and social life? Feeling like a fifth wheel between your married and single/never married friends? Looking for new activities to do with your kids as well as new friends who share your experiences and conundrums as a single parent?

If so, we’d love to invite you over to our group, the West Side Single Moms and Dads! The WSSMD is a friendly, diverse, active and fun group of single parent individuals and their kids on the West Side of Cleveland (we even have some east side members and some that come from as far away as Sandusky!), who have come together to share in our experiences and build long lasting friendships, as well as enrich the lives of our kids! All are welcome: single divorced, adoptee, widowed, never-married, custodial or non-custodial: single parents are single parents, and we all share a common bond!

As we all know, being a single parent can be a tough order of business. Getting back out there during or after a divorce or other life-changing event to make new friends and find fun, new and safe places for your kids to interact with other kids can be hard to do with a busy schedule. So, if you’re looking for a group who "gets" where you’ve been and what you’re going through, and that holds fun, diverse kid-friendly events, drop on by and check us out!

Many of our single parent members have uploaded photos from our past events to give you an idea of some of the places we've been, so check 'em out! We hold a variety of events, from Metroparks outings and playground events, to Cedar Point and mini-road trips to interesting local places! We also try to design events that as many age groups as possible can enjoy (the group has ages ranging from toddlers all the way up to teenagers!) No dues or pressure, just fun with your kids, as well as other single parents in your situation! All that being said, we're looking forward to meeting you and your kids soon! Come on over and see what we're all about! "Single parent" doesn't have to mean on your own!!!
