Good evening everybody,

It's been a while since we've put out a group e-mail, and we've got some items to update you on ...

First, a few words about today's Meetup at the Chalet for the hayride/fall festival.  After 2.5 years of going to these events, and almost as long helping Brandon to plan them, you get a sense of which Meetups are going to go especially well.  When the weather dawned sunny and seasonably warm, with no clouds in the sky, I knew we were going to have a great time.  And did we ever!  A hay maze, pumpkin painting, playing on the swings, balloon animals, face painting, and perhaps the most fun hayride of all time.  (Even if we'll be picking hay out of clothes for the next week ...)  Thanks to everybody who made it today -- it was a great Meetup!

Okay, let's look ahead at the schedule:

Next Saturday is the Adult Night In at Laurie's house in Strongsville.  We've limited this one to 25 attendees, and we are currently at that limit!  If you've RSVP'd for that one, please take a minute to let everybody know what you're planning to bring.  In my annual attempt at getting more traffic on the Facebook page, I've put the signup list there:  http://on.fb.me/rel9er.  (I keep saying that I want the FB page to be more active -- ideally, lots of members would post there, and we could get together more spur-of-the-moment gatherings in addition to the regularly scheduled Meetups.  Baby steps.)  Feel free to add your own comment to the discussion so that we all know whether to expect a killer side dish, a sinful dessert, or (now getting down to my level of cooking expertise) a large bag of junk food.  (If you do not have a Facebook account, and you're planning to attend the party, you can e-mail me, and I'll add your information to the list.)

If you have RSVP'd for the Adult Night In, I will send an e-mail with Laurie's address and some directions; look for that around Thursday or Friday.  (If you haven't gotten it by Saturday morning, let me know.)

The following weekend, on November 6th, we'll be heading to the I-X Center for the Lego KidsFest.  This event looks like it is going to be super fun -- an afternoon full of building Lego creations and seeing what others have created.  Tickets are on sale at the Lego KidsFest web site (it's $20 for adults and $18 for kids).  Note that we are planning to attend the 3:00 PM - 7:30 PM time slot on Sunday, November 6th -- please make sure to buy tickets for that time!

On Saturday, November 12th, we're planning one last fall hike, this one at the French Creek Reservation in Sheffield Lake.  We have a near-perfect record of getting rained on hikes, so we'll see if we can turn our luck around!

Then on Saturday, November 26th, if you don't feel like being a sardine at the mall as Christmas shopping season kicks into high gear, come join us at the Strongsville Rec Center for an afternoon of swimming at their pool!  We've done this one a few times before, and between the kiddie pool, the water slide, the diving boards, and the extra-large hot tub, there is something for everybody.

We're planning to add other items to the fall and (shudder) winter schedule soon.  Some of the ideas that you'll probably see soon:  bowling; Amazone (the indoor kids' park in Medina); snow tubing at Brandywine (hands down, one of the most fun events we do every year); an 80s-movie Adult Night In; and more.  We are always looking for new ideas, so if you have an idea for a Meetup, let us know!

That's about all for now.  Have a great week and see you at a Meetup soon!
