Thanks for coming out and great conversation tonight. All of our meetups are good but tonight was especially good. I really enjoyed seeing that when our discussion was over so many were able to stay and continued to talk to each other and have fun. Thank you for making this group such a pleasure to lead!!!

I'm tied up later than I thought with my grandkids. Not going to make it. :-(. Thoroughly enjoyed the book!

Weather update: Just looked at Weather Channel and the snow begins around 11 - 12 pm. The weather is still above freezing by the time we would leave Flight 112 so we will be fine running this tonight. We will be in a different spot tonight, we will have the back room like we've had in the past. When you come in, just as where the book club meeting is at and you will be directed back to us. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

My regrets. I have to work late tonight. I read the book, too, and loved it. The main character was such a delightful "piece of work." i laughed and smiled my way through the book.

Hello Everyone! Keeping an eye on the weather for tonight. Looks like rain until midnight so we are still on as far as I am concerned. I will post again later this afternoon around 4 if it seems like the snow will be coming on faster than we think. Still plan on having this unless the roads are bad.

    Lisa,
I am sorry to say that I cannot make it. I did read the book and it was a great recommendation. Truly loved it. I am sorry to have to bow out, please forgive. I look forward to meeting up with you all next time.

Hi Fitz it happens. Hopefully we'll get chance to meet you at an upcoming event! Thank you so much for updating your RSVP

Hello Everyone! Looking forward to Tuesday night. Please update your RSVPs if you will be unable to attend so I can make sure that we have the right amount of space to accommodate the number of people we have. Thanks!

Also if you are on e waiting list and still want to come you are more than welcome.

I am not sure if anyone is interested but I am usually at Flight 112 between 5:30 and 6:00 if anyone wants to eat there before our meeting. In the past we have had the back room where it wasn't always easy to get something to eat and have a place to put it. But now with their new "flair" seating arrangement it is a lot easier to order if you want. Just thought I would mention it in case anyone is interested!

FYI for this month I won't be there so early but will post for the other meetups if I will be there early.

Hello Everyone. I am closing this event (again) to any more RSVPs and will leave it closed until we meet. The response to this book has been fantastic and it is great that we will be meeting so many new group members! Thanks again Leslie for the suggestion for this months book!!

I know that we will have some people drop before the event. Life happens and it's completely understandable that we have cancellations. Using "Meetup Mathematics" even if we have the usual number cancel we will still have a very large group. If that is the case, I will just divide the group into two smaller groups and we will have two discussions going. We did that once before and it worked well.

Members on the waiting list, just consider yourself on the regular list now and come on out ;>. As for anyone missing out on this meetup I highly suggest looking at the April Meetup, Defending Jacob. It was an excellent book with many twists and turns. You won't know who to trust when you finish reading it!

Nice to see so many people interested in the March Meetup. I had no idea the book would be this popular!

Hi! I am new, and I am just wondering how to prepare..I just read "The Rosie Project" and come ready to discuss? Do I need to bring anything? I am really looking forward to this:)

    February 17, 2014

    • Lisa S

Hi Mary go ahead and RSVP. That will put you on the waitlist, but very often we get cancellations a couple days before we meet and spots seem to open up ;>. Other than that we are very casual in our approach and we just talk about the book. So looking forward to meeting you!

      February 17, 2014

  • Lisa S

Ha! Success. We should now have a waitlist for this event. I will reopen up the RSVPs. If you would like to attend definitely RSVP and get waitlisted. Things change a bit over the course of a month and you will probably be able to get in.

    February 10, 2014

  • Lisa S

Wow it's great to see all the interest in attending the March meetup. I am closing the March meetup to new RSVPS. I used to be able to add a waitlist and now I don't see how to do that option. I may open this back up closer to the meetup date if spots open up (or if I get the waitlist functionality back!).

This book looks like a fun read! Can't wait for the discussion.

Yes it had me laughing out loud in some parts. I requested a light read for March just because it is often so dreary. This seemed to fit the bill nicely;>. Looking forward to meeting you at our discussion!

      1 · January 28, 2014

  • Lisa S

Careful where you read this ;>. I was listing to it as an audiobook at work and couldn't help but laugh out loud at certain parts. I look forward to the discussion on this one.

The March selection has been chosen and it is a book that Leslie recommended! Thanks Leslie for the suggestion! The book description is listed below.

An Amazon Best Book of the Month, October 2013: Full of heart and humor, Simsion’s debut novel about a fussy, socially-challenged man’s search for the perfect wife is smart, breezy, quirky, and fun. . But you’d have to be a pretty cynical reader not to fall for Don Tillman, a handsome genetics professor who has crafted a pathologically micromanaged life for himself but can’t seem to score a second date. After launching his Wife Project, which includes a hilarious questionnaire intended to weed out imperfect candidates--smokers, makeup wearers, vegans (“incredibly annoying”)--Don meets Rosie. The reader knows just where the story is headed: Rosie’s so wrong for Don, she’s perfect. That’s not giving anything away. Half the fun of the book is watching pent-up, Asperger’s-afflicted Don break free--Neal Thompson

I added some suggestions to the discussion thread. Where'd You Go, Bernadette and The Rosie Project are both light, humorous fiction books.

    • Lisa S

Leslie I am definitely going to consider your suggestions as I know how much you read. My only worry is finding some books you haven't read ;>. I want to keep you motivated to come to these meetups lol

      November 15, 2013

    • Leslie M.

Not a problem. Even if I've already read the book I'll still be there to discuss it.

      1 · November 15, 2013

  • Bea M

I suggest "Major Pettigrew's Last Stand," a NYT bestseller. It's a charming comedy of manners about a Brit's last love affair with a Pakistani shop owner, and how his small village behaves badly.
