For our third geocaching adventure, we'll be seeking caches in a muggle-ridden environment.
We should start with lunch. So let's meet at Mel's Diner at noon, and then head out from there.
For all of you Jim Henson fans, we'll be visiting the Dinosaur Train Tyrannosaurus Cache, officially placed and maintained by the Jim Henson company. This cache is special for several reasons: It is one of 128 owned and maintained by the Jim Henson company as part of the company's Dinosaur Train GeoTour, which itself is only one of six GeoTours officially recognized by Groundspeak, Inc. In fact, this GeoTour is also the only officially recognized one that spans across the entire country. AND! This cache is the only one on the tour that's in Los Angeles.
Other caches we might want to check out include: The Mothership, Crossroads Of The World, Fountain's Fountain, Station 10, and "Star Trek" at Hollywood American Legion. The last two times we went looking for about 4 or 5 and that was enough to tucker us all out. These, in particular, appear to be a little more difficult to find due to an excess of muggles and the like... but we'll see what we find!
For first time 'cachers: First, I'd recommend that anybody who wants to keep doing this get an account at Geocaching.com. If you do, add me (MarvelBoy). Read up on what Geocaching is just a bit, if this is completely novel to you! There will be more Geocaching events in the future.
If you have GPS devices, I recommend that you bring them! This includes phones (which is what I'll be using). There are also Geocaching apps on both the Apple and Android markets and those are helpful. Just be sure that, if you download them, they utilize info from Geocaching.com and that they can sync/link to your Geocaching.com profile.
