Our favorite Coach is bringing back Track Tuesdays, Yay!! We will warm up for 1/2-1 mile, then start the 400's on the track.
Don't be scared...you will run the loop around the track at your 5k goal pace. Not everyone will run the same speed, as everyone's goal pace is different. No matter what your pace, this workout will help you with breathing, leg turnover and overall speed!
After the first lap, we will break into groups accordingly. The goal is to rest for as much time as you run. If you run the lap in 2 minutes, you rest for 2 minutes before you do the next lap. We will run 6-8 laps. Do what you can.
This is a great opportunity to increase our speed and learn how to be better runners. Nobody wants to be uncomfortable while they run and yet everyone wants to run faster. You cannot have it both ways!
A short session of speed training might be uncomfortable for that short time, but you will greatly appreciate how it will make the rest of your runs feel. And you will get faster as your body learns faster leg-turnovers and gains better anaerobic capacity.
We will meet on the track. Drive past the school on Rhode Island and make a left at the stop sign. You will see the track on the left.
