Greetings (Updated 10/29)
We are finalizing prizes and sponsors, but keep the date is solid. We are doing something a little different this month for our social activity. Rather than our usual Thursday night event, we are shifting to Friday and holding a scavenger hunt.
The scavenger hunt will be on foot and centered around the downtown DeLand area. There will be a time limit and more clues than you can get to during that period, so its not a race...you'll have to decide which clues are worth going after based on the points. This is a team event, for groups of 2 to 4 people. We will partner solos up before the event to make sure everybody is ready for fun. This will also be a digital scavenger hunt, so one team member will have to have a digital camera (phone or otherwise) and be able to submit photos to the judge for review and scoring at the end of the hunt (make sure you are ok with the judge holding onto your phone/camera for about 30 min as the evidence is reviewed and processed). These clues were designed assuming you'd try to use google, so make sure somebody on the team has a smart phone to look things up. Wear comfortable shoes and get ready to get to know your team and the surrounding area really well.
You can try to build a team in advance, but we may have to reposition people depending on the turnout as we need to make sure that everybody has a team. To that end, try to arrive by 530 to mill about and talk trash to the other teams. We will finalize the teams from 530 until 550 and start reading the final instructions at 550. Once they are done, game on. Plan for the hunt to last ~2 hours, followed up by scoring, more trash talking, socializing and the like.
