Sunday Singing in Dobbs Ferry

Let's sing!  Here are some songs I'd like to try:

I have lots of sheet music (mostly piano/vocal, some parts), but generally I think it's better to learn by ear.  If you have something you'd like to sing, bring it along!

Had a great time and thanks to John and all his hard work in organizing all the sheet music and arrangments.

Thanks everyone for coming and singing! I think we sounded good too, and I look forward to next time -- I'll schedule another soon.

Had a great time! (And I thought we sounded pretty good, too!) Many thanks to John for sharing his time, arrangements, sheet music, and talent with us. Thanks to him and his family for inviting us to their home!

I was really looking forward to singing with everyone but I just came down with a summer cold and my voice isn't up to par. Definitely want to make it the next event!

Sorry to hear that -- hope you feel better soon!

Hi there. I just got something that saidthemeetup was at 7:00 pm, not 3:00pm. Was the time changed? If so, I'm going to have to change my RSVP status....

    Thanks.

    • John V.

No, it's still at 3:00 pm. See you then!

    John,
A friend of mine, her name is Bernadette, and she heard me talking about our upcoming meet-up on Sunday, July 21 at 3PM, and she would love to come as well. She is a singer, currently occasionally performing here on Long Island, and she says she LOVES to harmonize. I have made arrangements with Larraine Giovaniello for us to drive together, so now there will be THREE of us in my car! See you Sunday.
    Aaah,
    Ron

I posted parts for the Pachelbel Canon. Since it's a canon, the parts are all the same, but I transposed them into hopefully comfortable ranges. This is one we will need music for, but there's a very simple ground (harmony), so if you don't know the piece or are not comfortable reading music, don't worry.

They're in the "Files" section (under "More" just under the group name at the top of the page).

    • John V.

Yes, I have a piano and an old Yamaha keyboard.

Hello everyone! Very excited to have found you all, and I'm looking forward to doing some singing next Sunday!
A question: if I can find copies of a lot of th acapella sheet music I have stored somewhere, should I bring it?

I just joined... would love to sing... I'm completely untrained, and can sometimes go off-key. Is that OK? Does it matter?

      Thanks, that's great.
Now I just have to see if I can come on the 21st.

In reply to your reply to creativetype... Everything I read about this group sounds great! My only sort-of problem is living on Long Island and having no experience whatsoever driving around in Westchester County, or getting there, for that matter. Do you know of anyone planning to come on the 21st who lives anywhere near me? Or..... can you send me absolutely foolproof directions (and route maps) to get there and to get back? What a 'bummer' it would be to be lost in Westchester.

would love do this, but the next three sundays are fully booked for me -- hope to join at an event in August!

I would love to try Come Softly To Me, Don't Stop Believing, and any of the ones in the bio I wrote. I am available for the July 21 session. I live in Coram which is in Suffolk County on Long Island. Anyone anywhere near me to possibly carpool? Far away, yes. But your description sounds so perfect.....

I have other stuff going on, but it might fall thru. Then, I'll probably
    join you.

    Thanks!

I am not available this day, but I look forward to the next one and hopefully can attend. :)
