Thanks to the generosity of our group I was able to donate $145 to the Salvation Army to help victims of Hurricane Sandy. Now the holidays will soon be here when music and singing should fill the air. Your host will be Steve Keltz as I will be heading for Florida. The agenda for the meetup is:
7:30-9:00 - 1 1/2 hoursof our usual selection of songs you think the group would like to play. Try to keep the songs to five chords or less; try to avoid C#dim7's and that ilk. Appropriate holiday songs can be part of the mix. Please bring at least 12 copies of your tab to hand out to the group. You can track the number of people coming on our website.
9:00-9:30ish - Showoff time - got a song you or others in the group have been practicing together and think you are ready for prime time, here's your chance.
9.30pm-till: Socializing - when showoff time is done those interested can adjourn to the Harry's a couple of stores away from Groove.
A home for all acoustic players, singers, and people who like to play unplugged in general. While all levels are welcome, we are an Intermediate to Advanced group.
We currently have two main alternating Meetups:
- One is a "Chord jam" where we all play and sing the same song at once, and the experts get a chance to solo.
- The other is a "Performance Night" where we each take turns playing a song solo or with a friend. These are usually blues, rags, bluegrass, country or also folk/modern, depending.
While the name says "guitar", this group is acoustic in general. There's always room for bass, mandolin, harmonica, tambourine/shakers, keyboards, and so on. Also singers are always welcomed even if you don't play an instrument!
Please check the "Learn more about this Meetup Group" link just below for more details and we hope to see you soon!
