Hudson Valley Restaurant Week ~ Armonk, New York: Moderne Barn

Prix Fixe Dinner for a Party of 8 -

As part of Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, we have a table for 8 for a prix fixe dinner at Moderne Barn – a relatively new restaurant in Armonk (right off I-684) that has a reputation for wonderful ambience, superb cuisine, and an impressive wine list.

If you can join us earlier for a drink at the bar, please arrive at 6:30pm.

The plan is to order two bottles of wine for the table (one red, one white) and divide the total bill by 8.  If any members prefer another beverage, we will take that into consideration when dividing the check.

**PLEASE NOTE:  CASH ONLY

The cost of the meal (without beverages, tax and tip) will be about $30, so please figure on bringing about $50.  Small bills help!  I'll send out a reminder that week.

Moderne Barn

From the website:  modernebarn.com

Residing in Armonk, The Livanos family aimed to create an inviting gathering place in their hometown, the result is the ‘'urban country chic’' Moderne Barn. Designed by Kim Nathanson of Morris Nathanson Design, the restaurant features a hint of the country with some industrial elements, including a double height walnut barrel vaulted ceiling and a cat walk over the bar that houses our wine "cellar". The space also features three large prints from Roberto Dutesco, who is well known for his photography of the Horses of Sable Island. Located on the corner of Route 22 and Cox Avenue, in Armonk, NY, the restaurant offers it's guests affordable luxury. Our philosophy is to create an experience that brings exceptional service, superb cuisine and terroir- driven wines together in a stunning atmosphere. Executive Chef Ethan Kostbar accomplishes this by using a Mediterranean, New American approach to showcase ingredients with simplicity and seasonality. Chef Kostbar’s remarkable talent, classical training and worldly travels allow him to be true to the taste of each ingredient. He accomplishes this by using naturally grown produce within the season.

Thanks to all of you for a great evening! Good food, great company - so glad you all could make it tonight. Very interesting conversations, and the birth of a couple of good ideas - that's what I love about these dinners! More to come...

Lot's of fun. Great food and conversation. New rule: no cell phones at the dinner table. (WINK WINK). Kudos to David for handling the bill with no issues. Thanks, Laura for another good find!

Laura, clearing space in advance for someone else to pick it up. I don't think I will be able to make it, my commute is screwed up right now.

I just posted the prix fixe menu for dinner this week, and sent it to members on the attending list to confirm that they like the choices - please review and update your RSVP if necessary. If there are any changes in attendance, members on the waiting list will move up in order. If anyone moves up from the waiting list, I will send out a confirmation email to confirm the menu works and they can attend. Thanks, everyone!

Darn! Once again work interfers with social life.

  • Cher M.

ok, how much is this event or do we just pay for what we eat/drink? Dress attire?

    February 19, 2013

    • Laura S.

Cher, the prix fixe price is usually around $30 for 3 courses and a drink, more information will be posted once it's available. We split the bill at the end of the meal, and pay for what we order. Dress is for dinner - office attire is fine, many will be coming straight from work.
