Sunday Summer Movie Series - Kurosawa

A quick note for the Kurosawa meetup.  Seven Samurai is EXTREMELY long, if you come to this one be on time, and be prepared to sit still for longer than your average movie.

After a long weekend, wouldn't it be nice to finish off your Sunday by chilling out and watching a movie or two with your fellow geeks? We're going to be getting together as many weeks as we can, and watching a mix of classic cinema, campy oldies, nostalgic fantasy flicks, and cool new stuff.

There will most likely be dinner involved also, details TBD.

Week 1 – June 30

Val Lewton's Horror classic "Cat People", and "The Curse of the Cat People".

Week 2 – July 14

Jim Henson's "Labyrinth" and "The Dark Crystal"

Week 3 – July 28

Akira Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai" and "Rashoman"

Week 4 – August 4

Kickin' it Old School...Like, really old: "Metropolis" and "Nosferatu"

Week 5 – August 18

Music Movies: "The Wall" and "Head"

Week 6 – September 1

The New Surrealist: Donnie Darko and Melancholia

It was good to see everyone, lots of people enjoyed the first movie, too bad we didn't get to the second one.

Isabelle, can I get your input on any good sakes? I know the traditional sake brand is Gekkeikan, but do you know any more? Also, does anyone like sake? if so, I'll buy 2 750-mL bottles. Lauren, welcome to this event. (It will be fun and you will enjoy the group) Since you are a fan of Japanese culture and the like, do you know or like Gekkeikan Plum Wine? I know that can be compatible with any Japanese food. :)
