  • Feb 2, 2013 · 10:30 AM

Groundhog Day hike along Silvermine Lake up past the William Brien Memorial Shelter, down the Red Cross trail past the Burnt House, up Owl Lake Road to the 1779 trail, then up a long steep climb on the Appalachian Trail to a beautiful scenic Hudson River overlook. From there we will hike near the Silvermine area, then back to the parking area.

The biting wind on the ridge was definitely not enough to dampen the fun of this brave bunch of warmhearted hikers! Fantastic trail, Peter! Thank you so much!

I would be interested in carpooling. I am in Croton, just off Taconic at Exit 134. Anyone going north on the Taconic is welcome to park @ my place and share a ride up.
