Join us for a strenuous Harriman through-hike along the Appalachian Trail, starting on the western boundary of Harriman State Park at Elk Pen and ending at the Anthony Wayne parking lot. We will plan to meet at the Anthony Wayne parking area, do a car shuttle to Elk Pen, and then hike along the AT through Harriman. Rocky trails, beautiful scenic vistas and several long, sustained hill climbs along the way.

Difficulty: Strenuous. Several long sustained hill climbs along rocky terrain. This is a qualifying hike -- you must successfully complete a qualifying strenuous hike to be able to participate in future strenuous-rated hike outings.

Distance: 12 - 13 miles

Estimated Time: 6 - 8 hours

Google Map link to Anthony Wayne parking lot meeting spot: https://maps.google.com/maps?daddr=41.288642,-74.02335&hl=en&sll=41.292012,-74.016974&sspn=0.014413,0.033023&t=h&mra=mift&mrsp=1&sz=16&z=16.

Plan to meet at the very southern end of the parking area. Note: the parking area at Anthony Wayne is huge -- he must have had many friends. If the southern area is blocked off, plan to meet as closely as possible to the northbound on-ramp to the Palisades Parkway. Also note that there may be a parking charge for the lot use.

I'm coming from Yonkers. Is anyone else taking public transportation? Is there anyone that can pick me up at the Peekskill train station (happy to chip in for gas)? Thanks!
