Join us for a strenuous through-hike along the Appalachian Trail, starting at the eastern end of the Bear Mountain Bridge at Rte 9D and ending at the Canopus Lake / Rte 301 intersection. We will plan to meet at the Rte 301 parking area at 8am, do a car shuttle to the trail head starting point, and then hike along the AT through the Hudson Highlands and Fahnestock State Park. Rocky trails, beautiful scenic vistas and several long, sustained hill climbs along the way.
Difficulty: Strenuous. Several long sustained hill climbs along rocky terrain. This is a qualifying hike -- you must successfully complete a qualifying strenuous hike to be able to participate in future strenuous-rated hike outings. You must be able to expect to maintain a 2mph pace for this hike.
Distance: 16.5 miles
Estimated Time: 7 - 9 hours

Equipment: Sturdy hiking shoes. Water -- at least two liters. Hiking poles if needed. Headlamp or flashlight. Trail map. Fully charged cell phone. Warm clothing.
Dog policy: Dogs are welcome on this hike, but must be kept on leash and under control at all times.
