Today we hiked a very pretty area of Harriman. Great hike and an opportunity to reconnect with several old friends. Thank you, Peter, as always, for leading! PS. I tried to take some extra care in taking pictures today, after the failure of two weeks ago! :)

It was just like Lord of the Rings, only it was my phone and not a magical ring, and it chose its fate by staying in its charger and not falling out of my pocket for a hobbit to find :)

Can anyone local to Harriman confirm that Exit 16 off Palisades and Tiorati Brook Road are definitely open?

    April 1

    • Becky

Found this on the Palisades Parks Conservancy - Website "Seasonal Road Closure Alert: Tiorati Brook Road, Arden Valley Road, Exit 16 on the Palisades Interstate Parkway to Lake Welch Drive all closed December 1, 2013 to April 1, 2014. The only portion of Lake Welch Drive that remains open is from Seven Lakes Drive to St. Johns. For more information contact us at [masked]"

I called, they said Exit 16 is open and Tiorati Brook is open as well no road/bridge damage from winter.

Any word on what trail conditions are currently like in Harriman? Has everything completely melted?

    April 3

    • Ed

As of last weekend there was little snow/ice left on the RD so it should be gone now. However, it will be muddy in spots and the streams were running high.

We have to organize a car shuttle and the actual hike may not start till almost 9. The finish could take some close to 6pm.
