Great weather for this hike. Thanks to John for organizing a challenging 11 miler with 3,800' feet of elevation change! Glad we chose Whistling Willies for libation and chow afterwards! Thanks to my fellow hikers and "Spider Woman" ( couldn't resist) for the interesting conversation.

Well, I was there, but turned right on route 9D North off of 84, and followed it till it ended. By the time I realized I should have gone south on 9D, and found the tunnel and parking lot, it was too late. Too bad, I drove for 2 hours at that point! And I chocolate chip cookies for you guys!!!!

Lindsay, I will park on the side closest to the river, so when you get off the train go towards the elevator down the stairs and take a right, go up those stairs and I will be there in a silver Chrysler, town and country (soccer mom vehicle) Haha

Sorry, I just read WHAT TO BRING: Are hiking boots a must?!?!?!?! I walk Mt. Beacon a few times a week and I did hike Break Neck to Beacon one time. But I have never worn/own a pair of hiking boot. Should I go out and get a pair for this hike?

LINDSAY, FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. TRAIN HAS SPECIAL STOP ON WEEKENDS NEAR BREAKNECK, ABOUT 1/4 MILE NORTH OF PARKING LOT. CHECK WITH CONDUCTOR ON TRAIN

    Lindsay,

Breakneck has VERY LIMITED service ... 9:03 and 10:03 and that it. Walking from Cold Spring is doable, but not advisable ( very little road shoulder and speeding traffic). The Beacon ride is your best bet.

For public transportation i'm assuming get off at beacon stop
