New Year's Eve Eve Hike: Popolopen Torne

  • Please join us for an end-of-year strenuous hike up Popolopen Torne, a rugged peak just south of West Point. Beautiful views of the Hudson River valley. Rocky trails and one long sustained hill climb with some rock scrambling required.









    Difficulty: Strenuous. Some steep exposed rock scrambling.

    Distance: 4 miles

    Estimated Time: 3 hours

    The parking lot area fills up fast, so please try to arrange carpooling if possible.

    Weather: Rain cancels.

    Equipment: Sturdy hiking shoes. Water -- at least two liters. Hiking poles if needed. Headlamp or flashlight. Trail map. Fully charged cell phone. Plan to dress in layers, and avoid cotton.

    Dog policy: Dogs are welcome on this hike, but must be kept on leash and under control at all times.

    Guests: No guests for this hike. All hikers must be members of WHMG.
