Harriman: Turkey Hill / Appalachian Trail / Long Path

  • Dec 8, 2012 · 9:00 AM

Join us for a strenuous hike in Harriman State Park. We will hike in the north-central section of the park, starting at the Turkey Hill area and making a clockwise loop via the Anthony Wayne, 1779, Appalachian and Long Path trails. There are several vista points, and some very swiftly running streams through this area. Rocky trails and several long, sustained hill climbs along the way. Some of the route will be discovery-hiking, so consider yourself forewarned about possible route-finding adventures.

Difficulty: Strenuous. Several long sustained hill climbs along rocky terrain. Some very steep descents. Hiking poles are strongly recommended.

Distance: About 10 miles

Estimated Time: 5 - 7 hours

Just saw the email about confirming by 7-7:30 a.m. Any way it could be confirmed earlier? Leaving from the city and then catching a ride, and because of train schedules, it would be really helpful to know by about 6 a.m. if possible.

Doubtful I can make the call before 7am, since I am trying to avoid cancelling the hike when there is a chance for weather improvement.
