Leveling the Playing Field: Campaign Finance Reform in New York State

Leveling the Playing Field: Campaign Finance Reform in New York State
Money's influence on the political process is undeniable and often pernicious. Campaign finance reform is the key to better government for everyone. This educational forum will address initiatives at the state level that seek to level the playing field and to encourage and support the possibility of new candidates entering the political arena. The panel includes State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins; Assemblywoman Sandy Galef; Jessica Wisneski, Campaign Director, Citizen Action of NY; and Ian Vandewalker, Counsel, Democracy Project at the Brennan Center, NYU. Question and answer period to follow the presentations. Admission free, all are welcome.
Sponsored by Westchester for Change, which is a grassroots, independent, all volunteer organization working for progressive issues here in the county. Our model is to educate ourselves, sponsor forums and other information events, and advocate for change that we've learned is vital and effective. Our membership includes many hundred activists.

The speakers all were well-informed and engaging and the audience asked excellent questions. In order for reform to happen, we all need to call Gov. Cuomo and our NY State senators and assemblymembers to tell them we support public financing and greater disclosure in a comprehensive campaign finance reform bill.

Hi guys! I put the event on some FB groups-- Westchester Young Dems etc., also had Arnie Klugman do an email blast, spoke about it at our District Leader meeting-- Amy Paulin & George Latimer were there, he may stop by. I also sent it to WVOX, and The Greenburgh Cable TV Channel's notices. Told Diane already.

Thanks, Suzanne. I gave George a flyer last week and most of the electeds are on our elist, but it's great that you were able to get the word spread far and wide. We hope to have a good turnout and a successful event!
