Welcome to The Westchester Novice Hikers Meetup Group.

My name is Paula and I'm the organizer for this group.

We are a Westchester based group of people new or fairly new to hiking, but not necessarily new to exercise.

Come out and play in nature with us, meet some really nice people and explore the beauty of the Lower Hudson Valley. We will explore Westchester trails as well as Rockland, and a little further away too. This may include the Catskill Region, NJ and CT (or even further).

Most of our hikes will be moderate in pace, distance & terrain. There may be some more challenging trails included too. I will provide details and links for each hike - please use the information provided to decide if the hike is right for your needs and level of fitness.

I am CPR and First Aid Certified but I am not a professional, nor do I profess to be. I am the organizer of this group - I am doing the research and planning only, and am not a guide or teacher. We are learning and exploring together -

That being said, I welcome those of all abilities and ages.
This is not a singles only group - we do have many singles, but couples and those who are coupled up are welcome too. I do not advise bringing pre-teen children - this is a group for adults. Please use your own judgement here and realize that others may not be as appreciative of your childrens exhuberance as you are!..in other words..don't 'drag them along' if they don't want to be there as that will drag us down too. Most sites will allow dogs and require them to be leashed - it will be your responsibility to check the links I provide and make sure your pup is allowed.
