We'll take a ride on the Butler-Freeport Community Rail-Trail. Then there is an option to go swimming at a nearby community pool afterwards.
We will meet at the Jones Road Trailhead by 8:45am, for a 9am departure. The Jones Road Trailhead is at the mid-point of the trail, and appears to be at the highest elevation point of the entire trail.
We will first bike 10 miles toward Butler, then turn around and bike back to the Trailhead, for an out-and-back total of 20 miles. Then we have the option to do another 10 mile ride toward Freeport and back to the Trailhead again (another 20 miles, round-trip).
According to the Trail Reviews, the return trips from both Butler and Freeport will be uphill! Please bring snacks and water that you will need for the ride.
After the bike ride, there is an option to go swimming at the nearby public swimming pool at the Laura J. Doerr Memorial Park. It opens at noon and has a concession stand; the entry fee is $7.
