Is your child learning English at home? Are you a bilingual family? Let's make opportunities for our children to interact in English with people outside our own families and experience English as a living language.

This is a group for bilingual and English-speaking children around 2 to 5 years old (and their parents). This is not an English class. No one will be teaching, but parents who want to lead a song or a game are welcome to try. The emphasis is simply on meeting other kids and parents who speak English and having fun with them.

My family is in Kawasaki, but we are scheduling play dates in different areas in Western Tokyo and Kanagawa where we have interested members. We have had a few meetups so far in places like Inokashira Park (Kichijoji), Fuchu no Mori Park (Fuchu/Higashi Fuchu), Fujimori Park (Hachioji), Tama zoo and Sagamihara Park (Near Machida and Hashimoto). We will probably revisit some of these in the future and we expect to have some meetups in the area of Kawasaki and Yokohama as well. Do you know of any nice parks, zoos, or other family attractions in the area? Make a suggestion. Many of the places that we have been to were suggested by our members. Would you like to help organize a meetup that is convenient for your area and schedule? We would love that. Even if you live outside the Western Tokyo/Yokohama area you can plan a playdate. Contact me if you are interested.

Any family that is trying to use English with their child is welcome to join. It doesn't matter if English is not your first language. We have many families in our group with at least one native speaker, but we also have many families with both Japanese parents and some with both parents from other countries as well. Don't worry that your English level is not good enough or that your pronunciation is not good. We do not care about that. My wife is Japanese and I can speak it as well, so Japanese parents with low English ability are welcome and will feel at ease. But the child should at least understand some basic English commands and questions and hopefully can say a few English words and phrases appropriate for their age.
