Is your toddler learning English at home? Are you a bilingual family? Let's make opportunities for our children to interact in English with people outside our own families and experience English as a living language.

This is a group for bilingual and English-speaking children around 2 to 4 years old (and their parents). This is not an English class. No one will be teaching, but parents who want to lead a song or a game are welcome to try. The emphasis is simply on meeting other kids and parents who speak English and having fun with them.

My family is in Hachioji, but we are scheduling play dates in different areas in Western Tokyo where we have interested members. We have had a few meetups so far in places like Inokashira Park (Kichijoji), Fuchu no Mori Park (Fuchu/Higashi Fuchu), Fujimori Park (Hachioji), and Sagamihara Park (Near Machida and Hashimoto). We will probably revisit some of these in the future. Also Mt. Takao and Tama zoo are both on the list of places to go once the weather cools down just a little. Do you know of any nice parks, zoos, or other family attractions in the area? Make a suggestion. Many of the places that we have been to were suggested by our members.

Any family that is trying to use English with their child is welcome to join. It doesn't matter if English is not your first language. We have many families in our group with at least one native speaker, but we also have many families with both Japanese parents and some with both parents from other countries as well. Don't worry that your English level is not good enough or that your pronunciation is not good. We do not care about that. My wife is Japanese and I can speak it as well, so Japanese parents with low English ability are welcome and will feel at ease. But the child should at least understand some basic English commands and questions and hopefully can say a few English words and phrases appropriate for their age.

We are still an active group We have been on vacation for a few weeks, so there have not been any meetups scheduled recently, but expect some new events to be posted within the next few days. Let's play!
