LDT: GEYSERVILLE Weekend B/2(1300)/38 C/3!(4100)/60 D/3!(5000)/69 E/3!(5600)/87

  • Mar 23, 2013 · 9:15 AM

Come prepared for an assault on the Geysers, that marvelous tree-shaded 16 mile climb that many of us know and love. Don’t be scared off though, as there is only one steep section (1.5 miles). As a reward for their climbing efforts, C/D/E riders will experience a sweeping 10-mile descent back to the valley floor before lunch. C/D/E’s ride 40 miles and climb 3800 feet before there is anywhere to buy food, so they need to bring whatever food/water is necessary to get them to lunch. The more civilized B riders will follow the rustic Healdsburg wine loop along Dutcher Creek, West Dry Creek, Alexander Valley, and Red Winery roads. The B route stops for lunch in Healdsburg and offers a 58-mile option. C/D/E routes all have shortcut options (see route sheets online). Rain cancels.

(Note: E route sheet was revised on 3/17/13)

Great company, great views, great air, great route, great weather! It was fun zigzagging on the steep hill. (I'm glad there was absolutely no car on the opposite lane.)

Going to try this hybrid route ( Considering only 'quality climbing' the total ascent should be around 6k. Planning to stop for 'energy bar' lunch at top of Pine Flat Road...
