Join Ken Lum ([masked], Cell:[masked]) at the Safeway parking lot at Sharon Park in Menlo Park at 10 am for an easy going ride through Shoreline Park to the SETI Institute at 189 Bernardo Ave. in Mountain View for their weekly noon time talks on astronomy, physics and astrobiology. We will meet in the corner of the parking lot nearest the Shell gas station.
The talk will be about “Mapping Io’s Surface Topography Using Stereo Images and Photoclinometry” by Oliver White, Lunar and Planetary Institute. See July 2 for a complete SETI Ride description. The talk might include background music such as “Fly Me to Io”, “Io River” and “Bad Io Rising” and “Shine On, Shine On Harvest Io”.
We will pick up lunch at the Subway sandwich shop in Mountain View to take to SETI or eat afterwards in Los Altos. Anyone wanting to skip the lecture may return on their own via any of the alternative routes outlined on the route sheet. Martian invasion cancels.
