Monthly After-Work Photo-Walk

This month it's a walk in the fall foliage. Tentatively set for Rattlesnake RA, but we could change that easily enough. Sunset is at 6:45, civil twilight ends at 7:15.

I took a prett bad spill on my bike up there tonight. Destroyed my helmet and am a bit scraped up. I don't think I'll be making it tomorrow after work. :(

Activity in the day after a bike wreck is the best therapy. See you there.

That spot is about 4 miles in on the main trail, right before Pilcher Meadow.

If any of you want more mobility and you have a bike, why not bring it? There's nothing wrong with splitting into groups. You can cover more ground, but most of the small side trails are no-bike. You can always stash the bike in the brush and walk around, though. They've been having a real problem with bears stealing bikes, though. They apparently use the parts to make slingshots.

There's a stand of aspens that should be pretty good behind the rock outcrop on the west side of the first campsite, 3 miles in just past the second Wallman trail turnoff (113º55'49"W,46º57'18"N according to Google).

To get coordinates on the map, click on "Maps Labs" in the left pane and select the "LatLng Tooltip" (NOT the "LatLng Marker" - it's off). You don't have to sign in to do it. Select "Terrain" in the dropdown menu on the right if you haven't already for a topo view. Hold the Shift key to turn the tooltip on.

I haven't seen that terrain tool before, that looks amazing. And the LatLng tooltip is cool too. See you soon!

Thank you very much Peter......sounds like great fun, and right up my alley. However, my girlfriend has planned an impromptu get together and would like me to be there. Of course, it's up to me, but........

However, I will be at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography Workshop at the Holiday Inn this weekend, so hope I get to meet some of you there.

    Thanks...............Jerry

Hey Peter.....how difficult is the walk? I am in decent shape, but am 64, so have a bit of concern if it includes a lot of difficult hills.

No problem. There are miles of flat trails and open woods by the creek where we'll be. It's nearly big enough to call a river in places and the valley floor is a half mile wide in spots.

And Rattlesnake Gardens is still open late for dinner.

Going to try to make it for about an hour or so. Daughter's birthday is that day and we will be going to dinner and she's got a friend staying over because of no school the next day. I think I'm going to take this opportunity to get out in nature and relax BEFORE the craziness starts....

I get off work at 5pm as and work downtown. I will try to get off early that day so I can be there at 5. If not I will be there about 5:10.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
