Big Sky Renaissance Faire

This a fun event for photographers. The web site is http://bigskyrf.com. There are lots of people dressed in period costumes. Jousting, sword fights, stocks (be careful, offend the Queen and you'll be locked up!), archey, vendors , etc. I will see if I can get a schedule of events in advance. I do know that Friday evening there will be an actual wedding ceremony. A pirate themed wedding that is. So if any of you have always wanted to shoot a wedding nows you chance!

If you want to make a weekend out of it, there is a forest service campground at Bass creek. The campgroud is about three miles from the Faire. Other interesting photo ops are the Lee Metcalf Wildlife Refuge, Historic St. Mary's Mission, Kootenai Creek Canyon, Historic Fort Owen, and the Bass Creek Overlook

My wife has agreed to host a brats and burgers BBQ for us all on Saturday evening. Probably be in the 6:00 to 7:00 range at my house. I only live about 1.5 miles from the Faire. I will see if I can line up a replica of a 50's Conoco filling station for some dusk/dark photos. It doesn't get dark for quite a while so that may go pretty late.

Anybody want to carpool from Missoula in the afternoon?

I've been trying to get in touch with the Faire folks for a schedule of events, but so far no luck. I will go down Friday evening and they should have printed schedules to hand out, at least they did last year. I'll get copies out Friday night so you can get an Idea of whats going on when.

The weather is looking perfect for taking photographs, but be prepared for an occasional shower. That will keep the dust down as well. Last year was very hot, dry, dusty and windy.

The BBQ at my house will start at ~6:30. It will not be anything to extravagant, burgers, brats, chips, and a couple of salads. If you would like to bring something to share, feel free to do that. I live at 164 Kootenai Creek Road. Go about a mile south of the Faire and turn west On Kootenia Creek Road. There is a Lucky Lil's on the corner. Do not go up North Kootenai to the trailhead. If you get to the light you went to far south.

I Look forward to seeing you there

I think it doesn't open until later in the afternoon, too. Checked the website last week. Sounds fun, though!

Hi Anne. I believe the fee is $6.00 a day. Check their website, I've been wrong before:). Does anyone have any input on locating each other once we are there? You Missoula typeset want to carpool down. Us Bitterrooters will probably just show up on our own.

also, since i will have an out of town friend in, we may not want to be there all day (9 am til bbq - he is diabetic so will need to keep to his treatment schedule) - are there going to be multiple meetup times, or should we just go on our own and come to bbq later? thanks for any info!

I found some digital picts from last year and put them here so you can get an idea of what to expect. http://bryansorenson.com/Galleries/Big%20Sky%20Renaissance%20Faire/

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
