New Year's Day Hike

At the Rattlesnake Rec Area main trailhead just off of Rattlesnake Drive (unless somebody else has a better idea that's close to town). I'll probably do an all-day hike if anybody else is up for that, and we can take a short loop first for those who don't want to be too adventurous. The 10am start time is open for discussion, too.

You'll be OK as long as you walk in the snow beside the trail.

Hello Peter. Don't have any Yak Trax. Is that a must, or can I get by on hiking boots?

Sneakers, warm socks and YakTrax (for ski ice) are plenty for the main trail, but light high-top boots would be good for tromping in the woods. There are about 6" of snow in places, nearly none in others.
