Liberty Cap Hike

The Details:  The Liberty Cap hike from the Wildwood Trailhead is one of the inconic Grand Junction hikes featuring an interesting and moderately demanding trail,  beautiful views and the chance to either push yourself or have a slower paced and more social hike.  From the trailhead to the top of the cap is approximately two miles one way and four miles round trip.

This is a self paced conditioning hike.  The start time will be  6:00 which should give most people the chance to get off of work and get to the trailhead in a low stress fashion, but - feel free to show up early or show up late, hike as little or as much of the trail as you wish at whatever pace (fast or slow) you choose.

Appropriate Trail Footwear

Trekking Poles (as an option and not required)

Additional Information:

Hounds are not allowed in the Monument

The cost is free since we are not parking within the park boundaries

My first ascent up the Cap and it was great! No bug bites, not hot weather either... can't beat that combo! Was nice talking with both Mike and Stacie about future hikes, photography, and kayaking. Happy 4th!

Sorry I was late Mike, I work until 6 so I was just in "go" mode once I hit the trail. Thanks for understanding my desire to keep pace. I laughed at your post. I will also call it a success. Sorry I was not able to continue to hike further with you, needed to care for my dog. See you on the trails again soon.

Thanks to Chuck, Stacie and Jill for coming out. The weather wasn't too bad - slighly overcast with a north breeze at times. Good conversation on the entire hike covering the spectrum from mountain biking, river rafting, kayaking, parachuting and photography. I saw this white blur that kinda looked liked Jill passing us at warp 9 on the way up. It looked like everyone was able to get the hike that they wanted at the pace that they wanted so I'll count this as a success.

Mike, I work until 6 so start without me. I'll try to catch up along the trail or I'll just see you at the top.
