Kayak Clinic on the Colorado River
Even if you've been kayaking for a while, it's always good to brush up on the basics and maybe learn some new tricks! In this clinic, taught by Rondo from Rapid Creek, we'll paddle down the Colorado River from Grizzly Creek to South Camp. This is a nice stretch of river to learn the basics, not too difficult but with some small rapids for excitement.
The group will be small so everyone will receive some individualized attention at their skill level. Some of the skills to be covered are:
* reentering the kayak
* reading the river
* river rescue
* paddling techniques
* boat safety
* exiting eddies
We need a minimum of 4 people to make the clinic a go. You can bring your own kayak, rent one from CMU or Rondo has a few double IKs for rent for $35.00 per day.
The cost is an affordable $50.00 for a full day-8:00-5:00. Expect to be on the river for 4 hours or so.
What to Bring:
* life jacket
* kayak (or rent one)
* lunch, snacks, sun screen, in a dry bag
* water or sports drink with a way to attach it to the boat so you can get to it during the day
* dry clothes (can be in your dry bag or left in the car)
* $50.00 to be paid the morning of the clinic
If you are coming from out of town and need a place to stay, please let me know.
