National Public Land Day’s 20th Anniversary national day of service on public lands will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013. Join in and celebrate with other volunteers to help improve the cross country ski trails maintained by the Grand Mesa Nordic Council in the Grand Mesa National Forest. Thanks to a generous grant from REI, GMNC was able to purchase new trail intersection signs. So, this year, we will be replacing the trail intersection signs at all of our trail systems - Be ready for some walking (or biking)! We will have a second group that will help with some trail widening and trail clean up (down trees, etc.). Please meet at Skyway trailhead at 9:00am on Saturday, September 28th. Expect to work until about 3 or 4pm. Lunch will be provided to all volunteers. In your RSVP, please state what you would like to help with – signage or trail clearing. If you choose trail clearing, please state whether you have any experience with using chainsaws, and whether you have any tools/equipment that you will be bringing.
TIP: This is the first day of archery season, so please wear bright colors!
This is a photo of the group that helped to build the new Summit trail last year. If you were able to ski the Summit trail last season, you know these folks did an awesome job!
