Colorado River Clean-Up - 3 sections of river through Grand Junction

  • Aug 9, 2014 · 9:00 AM

Colorado River Annual Clean-Up

3 sections of river through Grand Junction

To better be able to read the details visit the 2014 Colorado River Summer Cleanup web site.

This is not a WSA organized or sponsored event. However, since many of us are boaters and users of the local river, let's participate in the clean-up.

It is a great time to do some community service and meet other invested boaters. Who knows, you may meet someone to go boating with the following weekend or on a permitted trip next summer.

A really fun day out with friends and doing what we can to help our community!

We definitely could have used another raft to carry the trash bags so that the smaller boats could continue to collect. My boat was completely full by the time we got to the end because the raft was also overfull. That said - we probably needed to section the river so we could concentrate on the worse parts. We did a very good general cleaning though. Proud of the team.

Warm day, no wind until late afternoon and LOTS of trash. We loaded that BLM raft down so much the bow tube was barely out of the water.Mary was the undisputed trash queen, again for the 3rd river/ week in a row. There were so many popped and filled with mud and stick debris, cheapie vinyl rafts, tarps, tubes and pipes, a TV . . . and so much more. Thanks to BLM for being there with the raft as a garbage scow and thanks to the sponsors for food and tee shirts when the river cleanup was done.
