Where on the Western Slope do you live? how long have you been there? Where did you come here from? How did you learn about the WSA group and why did you join? Do you plan to be an "Active" member or is WSA just one more web registration for you?
Montrose, since 2000. Moved from Utah.
How and about what time in life did you get started with outdoor recreation? What are a few of your favorite outdoor activities?
Hike, raft, kayak, ski. Also interested in participating/leading outings geared to my family as well, 2 kids 14 & 17.
What is the most challenging hike, bike, backpack, 14er, canyoneering, ski/snowshoe, river trip or other outing you've ever done? How or why was that; and, would you do that or something similar again?
Hike 3/4 of the Colorado Trail. Rafted Grand Cyn, most rivers in Utah. Been married for decades--that should count!
Where is the most scenic place you have ever slept in a tent, walked or biked on a trail or travelled by paddle or oar down a river?
I'm semi-retired (or underemployed), often work in blocks and have occasional week days off.
After you've been on a few events with us, what kind of event might you be willing to to initiate and share with fellow WSA adventurers? Organize a hike? road or mtn bike ride? an evening on the river? a ski or snowshoe on Grand Mesa? Or... ?
Enjoy road & mtn biking, hiking (like 8-15 mile loops in particular), very familiar with San Rafael Swell, Ouray & Silverton area. Own raft, 3 hardshell kayaks and 3 inflatable 2 person kayaks, enjoy class 1-3 rivers best. Fly fish. Gunny Gorge anyone?
